Redefining Music and Creativity with AI

Hello, artists, futurists and technologists! Welcome to the weekly newsletter for the AI and The Future of Work podcast.

This week, we're focusing on a controversial topic, AI and art. There's no denying that this AI boom has raised the question of how it will coexist with art, artists, and content creators.

The solution might come from embracing AI instead of taking the opposite approach.

It's all about how creative people focus their efforts on understanding how AI can help in artistic processes.

Not only that, but the answer to mixing AI and art can come from the most surprising situations, such as losing your voice!

Here's how one of the industry’s biggest names decided not to run away from AI. Instead, he cemented his place in the industry by embracing it!

Let's dive into this week's highlights! 🚀

🎙️ New Podcast Episode with Marcus “Bellringer” Bell, Technologist Music Producer

How can one artist create over 15,000 songs in 6 months? Marcus Bellringer achieved this by embracing the power of AI, and he's not new to the game.

Bellringer began using AI for his music production 10 years ago, helping launch his career to new heights.

He has worked with such artists as Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, and Timbaland, as well as for major brands like Sony Music, HBO, Netflix, and Amazon

Bellringer has one goal for artists: to turn their fear of AI into curiosity because when you're curious, it opens a world of possibility.

In episode 319 of AI and the Future of Work, Bell explains how art and AI can coexist:

  • Marcus Bellringer's journey as a music producer, technologist, and futurist is a clear example of how AI can transform his art and the music industry

  • Bellringer went as far as creating Ravyn Lyte, North America's first AI music artist. Ravyn Lyte represents innovation in music creation and the use of music as a vehicle for mental health advocacy.

  • Marcus's perspective on AI's role in the entertainment industry isn't one of fear. Instead, he wants to shift the narrative from threat to opportunity.

  • AI must have a humanistic approach, where emotional connection, storytelling, and compassion remain crucial in the age of technology.

Bellringer isn't only an artist–he's also an entrepreneur.

In our conversation, he gives practical advice for creatives navigating the intersection of humanity and AI, including tools and strategies for finding purpose in this rapidly evolving landscape.

📖 AI Fun Fact Article

There's no denying that times are challenging for musicians, as streaming has reduced their income from record sales.

At the same time, creative professionals are concerned that AI might take over more tasks.

However, AI is not a threat to music, according to Stainer Jeffs, an AI researcher at the University of Agder, and there's some science behind this statement.

People want to make music, regardless of how fast and capable AI has become. The process itself is incredibly valuable to artists, and that's where AI becomes a powerful tool.

It can take over tasks such as transcribing music and making arrangements for choirs and orchestras. This way, artists have more time for the most essential aspects of music.

After all, we all love going to concerts!

PeopleReign CEO, Dan Turchin, believes we shouldn't focus on the death of art. Instead, we should celebrate new opportunities to help more creators create more content we will love.
